Read to a Pet offers a chance for children to try the most relaxing, non-threatening way to practice reading out loud — reading to a dog or cat. These visiting furry friends have been trained and certified by the Willamette Humane Society as therapy animals and are mellow and friendly.

The pets visit the library the last Saturday of each month from 1-2:30 p.m. Children may drop in or register in advance at 503-588-6088.
